Function and Description
The primary function of the Engineering Division is to promote the orderly development of the City of Manteca by providing general engineering services to regulate the construction of municipal structures, city streets, sewage disposal, water supply and storm drainage facilities. Through regulation, the goal is to provide a high standard of construction quality and to preserve and protect public health, safety, and convenience.
The Engineering Division coordinates design, administration, and construction of numerous capital improvement projects, such as:
Construction of street improvements.
Installation of traffic control devices.
Construction of sewer, water, and storm drain facilities throughout the City.
We ensure construction of high-quality subdivision streets and utility improvements through comprehensive plan check, testing, and inspection programs. City standard plans and specifications are maintained to assure the use of quality materials and acceptable construction practices.
The Traffic Engineering section monitors traffic conditions throughout the City to determine the necessity of traffic control devices in an effort to provide the highest level of service and safe passage possible for pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
The Engineering Division works with local, County, State, and Federal agencies to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the residents of Manteca.
