Services Division "MANTECA CHRONIC OFFENDERS PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS" The Manteca Police M-COPS Unit is made up of 4 investigators and one supervisor. The unit is sometimes supplemented with officers from neighboring agencies such as Escalon and Ripon Police Departments. The M-COPS Unit investigates crimes such as narcotic activity, chronic crimes (repeated crimes) and vice crimes, where an officer has to conduct an investigation while under cover. The M-COPS Unit also at times supplements the Manteca Police Detective Division with major crimes such as but not limited to, murder, rape, kidnapping and major assaults. The M-COPS Unit works with the cooperation of the San Joaquin Narcotic Task Force (CRACNET) where two Manteca Police Officers are assigned. The M-COPS Unit is also involved with educating the public regarding to the topic of narcotics. Several lectures and speaking engagements are scheduled through out the year with public and private schools as well as private clubs and neighborhoods. Although the M-COPS Unit is a pro-active policing unit, it handles an influx of information from the public regarding suspected narcotics activity and other crimes.
