Street Crimes Unit / Narcotics

The Manteca Police Street Crimes Unit is made up of 3 investigators and one supervisor. The unit is sometimes supplemented with officers from neighboring agencies such as Stockton, Escalon and Ripon Police Departments.

The SCU investigates crimes such as narcotic activity, chronic crimes (repeated crimes) and vice crimes, where an officer has to conduct an investigation while under cover. The SCU also at times supplements the Manteca Police Detective Division with major crimes such as but not limited to, murder, rape, kidnapping and major assaults.

The SCU works with the cooperation of the San Joaquin Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force (METRO).

The SCU is also involved with educating the public regarding to the topic of narcotics. Several lectures and speaking engagements are scheduled throughout the year with public and private schools as well as private clubs and neighborhoods.

Although the SCU is a pro-active policing unit, it handles an influx of information from the public regarding suspected narcotics activity and other crimes.

IF YOU SUSPECT NARCOTIC ACTIVITY IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD:
Things to look for:
  1. Unusual amount of traffic (vehicles or pedestrian)
  2. Short stay traffic
  3. Activity at the location at all hours of the day and night
  4. Unusual chemical odors
If you notice any of these things in your neighborhood you can contact the SCU at 209-456-8100 or the South County Crime Stoppers at 209-823-INFO (4636).
