A team of highly trained Communications Officers staffs the Manteca Police Departments communications center. It consists of ten public safety dispatchers, including the supervisor.
They are responsible for receiving, prioritizing and sending appropriate assistance to the citizens of the City of Manteca. The communications center is a vital link between the public and officers in the field. Police dispatchers handle many types of calls and situations daily, from routine to emergency. The dispatchers provide a necessary, indispensable function for the public and police officer alike.
The dispatchers use computer aided dispatch to record incidents and monitor the activity of patrol units, including the ability by using automatic vehicle location to follow the police units on a computer screen. The dispatchers monitor building security used closed circuit cameras.
