The detectives unit are highly trained police officers who specialize in the solving of crimes that require additional technical and sometimes long-term investigation skills. These detectives are assigned to various criminal acts to include; homicide, burglary, fraud, robbery, arson and child abuse and sexual assault.

The detective division is on call 24 hours a day and are called to crime scenes to conduct technical investigations where suspects are not known or not immediately arrested by their patrol counter parts. The detective division also uses high tech investigative resources to track down wanted suspects and keep track of those individuals who are required to register with the police for sex crimes and narcotics violations.

Because of the their training and experience the detectives are many times called upon to conduct sensitive and surveillance investigations.
