School Resource Officer

The Manteca Police Department has one of the most active SRO (School Resource Officer) programs in the state. Four officers are assigned to assist the 24000 plus students and staff of the Manteca Unified School District.

Officers are assigned to Manteca High School, East Union High School and Sierra High School. One officer is assigned to the 11 Elementary Schools within the city limits.  Officers also provide coverage to Calla High School, Manteca Day School and the Community School operated by the San Joaquin Office of Education.

Officers perform a variety of duties including law enforcement, counseling, mentoring and classroom education. The SRO has the responsibility for issuing citations to parents of children who are truant from school. Manteca Police Officers assigned to the SRO unit are full time police officers with over 65 years of total law enforcement experience.

In addition to regular school hours activities the SRO unit is very active in other school activities including sports activities, school dances, field trips, graduation and Sober Grad.

The SRO unit is also responsible for law enforcement at the Community teen dance held monthly at Golden West Gym.
