The Manteca Police Department Street Crimes Unit (Gang Division) consists of 2 Detectives and one Sergeant.  The mission of the SCU is to identify, document, and assist in the prosecution of gang members and their associates.  We investigate gang related crimes and disseminate information gained to uniformed patrol and detectives. 

Keeping track of gang activity and gang members helps in prosecuting gang members in any future crimes they may commit.  This provides the opportunity for significant sentencing enhancements in criminal proceedings.  The SCU conducts regular probation and parole searches of known gang members and associates.  We assist other law enforcement agencies with their investigations involving Manteca area gang members and associates. 

We also provide training and information to parent groups, students, counseling organizations, schools, and other community organizations concerning gang awareness and identification.  If you would like to have the SCU provide training to your organization or neighborhood watch, please contact either Det.
