Recreation & Parks Commission
• The next regular meeting of the Manteca Recreation and Parks Commission is Thursday, October 1, 2015
The agenda will be posted to this site at least 72 hours prior to the meeting.
This commission is appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, to advise the City Council on issues in the field of public parks and recreation. This commission is established to provide a communication link between the community and the City Council and staff. The commission specifically advises the City Council on subjects of recreation and facility master planning and development, needed parks and recreation facilities, goals and objectives for parks and recreation, and methods of community involvement. The commission is also responsible to evaluate the citys recreation programs, facilities, services and relationships to ensure that its objectives and goals are being achieved, maintain close liaison and coordination with other related community organizations to ensure a total cooperative effort to provide recreation and parks services, and to set recreation program fees.
The Commission meets at 7:00 P.M. on the first Thursday of March, April, August, and October, in the City Council Chambers located at 1001 W. Center Street. Additional special meetings may be called as needed. The City Clerk typically accepts applications for appointment to this commission during the month of November of each year. Senior Advisory Committee
This committee is appointed by the Mayor, with consent of the City Council, to advise the City Council in the areas of senior center programs and services, information to the community, developing and recruiting individuals for volunteer programs, and promoting and supporting programs and projects specifically designed for the older residents of the Manteca area. This committee serves to provide a line of communication between senior center and program participants and Parks and Recreation Department staff.
The Senior Advisory Committee meets at 12:00 P.M. on the first Monday of each month in the Manteca Senior Center located at 295 Cherry Lane. The City Clerk typically accepts applications for appointment to this committee during the month of November of each year. Youth Advisory Commission
The commission meets at 7:00 P.M. on the second Thursday of each month in the City Council Chambers located at 1001 W. Center Street. The City Clerk typically accepts applications for appointment to this commission during the months of May and/or June of each year. To eligible for appointment to this commission the applicant must be a high school student who resides within the City of Manteca city limits and attends school. Should you be interested in serving you may contact the Recreation Supervisor assigned to the commission at 456-8623 to discuss the position or you may request an application from the City Clerk at 456-8010.
